On Sunday Sept. 29th, a Taize Prayer Service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 900 S. Jefferson Street Port Clinton, at 7 p.m. The service will be led by Rev. Robert Butcher, pastor emeritus of Firelands Presbyterian Church, and Gregory Fox, retired choral director.
Taize is an ecumenical monastery in Burgundy, France, and their style of prayer has spread to every country in the world. It is simply known as “Taize”. It is based solely on experiencing a form of prayer and singing rooted in the Christian mystical tradition. It is an invitation to gather together in community prayer. The questions of liberal or conservative, Catholic, Protestant or Evangelical, or even “spiritual but not religious” disappear as those gathered seek God together in prayer and song, waiting together for God. It is a meditative service of readings, music, silent reflection, and prayers of intercession. All are invited and welcome to this opportunity for community prayer.
