Lakeside Wooden Boat Show and Plein Air Art Festival held in Lakeside Chautauqua

Lakeside Chautauqua hosted the eleventh annual Lakeside Wooden Boat Show and Plein Air Art Festival July 18-20. More than 40 Midwestern artists gathered along with 70 wooden boats to display an incredibly unique craftsmen and art event.

The 70 wooden boats that were on display were divided into different categories: boats produced before 1918 are historic, 1919-1942 are antique, 1943-1975 are classic, 1976-1984 are early contemporary and boats produced in the last 30 years are classified as late contemporary. The boats varied from 9’ to 57’ in length.

Former U.S. Ambassador to Brazil to speak at Lakeside Chautauqua

Melvyn Levitsky, former U.S. ambassador to Brazil, will speak as part of Lakeside’s Chautauqua Lecture Series’ theme on South America. 

Levitsky will give two lectures on Thursday, July 17. The 10:30 a.m. lecture is titled, “Brazil: Still the Country of the Future? And will it always be so?” and the 1:30 p.m. lecture is titled, “Illegal Drugs in the Western Hemisphere: From Field to Street.” Both lectures will be held in Lakeside Chautauqua’s Orchestra Hall.

A senior diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service, Levitsky retired in 1998 after 35 years of service.

Hotel Lakeside Dining Room opening May 22

Lakeside Chautauqua will once again partner with Black Tie Catering to offer lakefront dining at the Hotel Lakeside Dining Room and Café. The official opening is Thursday, May 22. 

Lunch hours are 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and dinner hours are 5-8 p.m., Monday-Saturday. A special dinner menu will be featured on Friday and Saturday evenings. A Sunday Brunch Buffet will be offered from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. beginning Sunday, June 1. Cost for Sunday Brunch is $16.95 for adults, $6.95 for children (ages 6-10), and children under age 5 are free.
