Bass vocalist returns for Musical Arts Series

HinesThe Musical Arts Series at Firelands will present bass vocalist John Hines at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Firelands Presbyterian Church, 2626 E. Harbor Road, Port Clinton.
Originally from New Washington, Ohio, HInes earned his Bachelor of Music degree at Heidelberg University in Tiffin. After studying at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, Heinz completed his Master of Music degree at Kent State University and earned his doctoral degree at Shenandoah University Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Va.  Hines is currently an Associate Professor of Voice at Northern Iowa School of Music, where he chairs the Vocal Division.

This is a return performance for Hines, who presented a well-received program in Port Clinton several years ago. True to his extensive experience studying and performing in Europe, Hines will perform selections titled “Mozart and Friends,” “ From Russia with Love” which includes Glinka and Rachmaninov, and “This is My Story, This is My Song” from “Pilgrimage,” by C. Floyd and based on Romans 8 and the Job 14.
Admission to the concert is available at the door for $15; students are admitted free. Following the concert, audience members will be invited to a reception to meet and welcome Hines. This concert is sponsored by WGTE and Miller Boat Line with lodging by Our Guest Inn.
