Dancin’ to Cruisin’
A portion of the crowd Saturday afternoon.
Saturday’s Gem Beach Rocks VI was a grand beach party on the shores of Lake Erie, honoring the tradition of decades of music and dancing on Catawba. The day-long festival of classic rock ‘n’ roll music was celebrated by those dancing on the sand and grass, those listening and luxuriating on lawn chairs in the sun, those on the beach and on boats anchored off-shore.
The bands were Wally and the Beavs, The Reese Daily Band, THe jUNK and Ronnie Howard with Cruisin'. The emcees were Judge Kathleen Giesler and John Schaffner.
Over $36,000 was raised on Saturday by Gem Beach Rocks VI for United Way in Ottawa County. Karen Mathison, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Toledo, thanked those in attendance and all those who contribute to the important projects of United Way in Ottawa County. Every dollar raised by Gem Beach Rocks VI stays in Ottawa County for programs in education, income and health.
Chris Galvin, Area Director of United Way in Ottawa County, said, “Gem Beach rocks because Gem Beach Marina is so generous with the space; because the sponsors and volunteers are so supportive year after year; because the food and bands are the best and because of the people who have a good time.”
