World-renowned pianist Michiko Otaki will join the Graffe String Quartet from the Czech Republic in a concert presented by the Musical Arts Series at Firelands on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Firelands Presbyterian Church, 2626 E. Harbor Rd. in Port Clinton.
Winner of the Czech Chamber Music Society Prize, the Graffe String Quartet will appear in Port Clinton during their 2012 to 2013 American Tour. They have toured Europe and the United States, winning praise for their youthful presentation and mature playing and will be performing in New York city the week following their local concert.
“Graffe String Quartet makes sublime music,” according to the Charleston Daily Mail. “The Graffe and Otaki played elastically and energetically, while leaving no filigree unturned,” heralded the Charleston Gazette.
Tickets are available for $15 at the door; students are admitted free. Audience members will be invited to welcome the performers after the concert at a reception prepared by members of the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council. This concert is sponsored by Jay and Margaret Mann, Dubbert’s Professional Outdrive Service and The Beacon. Accommodation for performers is provided by Our Guest Inn.
