Peggy Arlene Schaefer, 70, of Leesburg, Florida passed away on May 10th. She was the firstborn daughter of Helen and Harold Mastenbrook.

Richard "Corky" Avery, May 23, 1967-April 16, 2013

Richard "Corky" C. Avery, 45, of Oak Harbor, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his residence. He was born on May 23, 1967, in Toledo, to Ernest Avery and Sharon (Hawkins) Avery-Lamalie.

Visitation will be Friday, May 24, from noon-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Maxine Ruth Waggoner, May 27, 1931-May 18, 2013

Maxine Ruth Waggoner, 81, of Port Clinton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. She was born on May 27, 1931, in Oak Harbor, to Fredric and Luetta (Mehlow) Brindley. On June 7, 1952, she married Don C. Waggoner at St. John Lutheran Church in Port Clinton, and he survives. Maxine served as the business manager for her husband’s business, Don C. Waggoner P.E. Inc. for over forty years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, where she taught Sunday School for twenty-five years and enjoyed playing the piano for the preschool children there. She was also a member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club.  Maxine enjoyed gardening and music, and she was a dedicated caregiver for her son Greg during his long chronic illness. She enjoyed caring for Greg’s two dogs and helped rehabilitate them to better health. 

In addition to her loving husband Don of sixty years, Maxine is survived by her son Jeffrey (Deborah) Waggoner of Clarendon Hills, Illinois; grandchildren Melissa (Matthew) Schlesinger of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and Brian Waggoner of Berea, Ohio; two great grandchildren, Emily and Elyse Schlesinger; a sister, Carolyn Tewers of Port Clinton; and sister-in-law, Lois Gates of Port Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her son Gregory Waggoner.

Funeral services for Maxine will be conducted 10 s.m., Saturday, May 25,  at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, with interment to follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Visitation will be Friday, May 24, from 2-8 p.m, with family present from 2-4 and 6– 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions for Maxine may be made to the Port Clinton Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 528186, Port Clinton, Ohio, 43452. Mayor proclaims EMS Week

On Thursday, May 16, Port Clinton Mayor Vincent Leone and Councilman Mike Snider went to Port Clinton Fire and Rescue headquarters on State Road to proclaim Emergency Medical Services Week. EMS Week, May 19-25, honors the lifesaving work of the EMS squad.
