Riverview Healthcare Campus announces 2012 Employee of the Year

On Thursday March 7, the multipurpose room of Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus was filled with staff and their family members for a special night of recognition and celebration. Everyone enjoyed a pig roast with a variety of salads, desserts, and pulled pork.

The evening began with a presentation that featured facility-wide honors Riverview achieved in 2012. These honors included the highest admission rate in six years. A total of 290 residents/patients were admitted in 2012 and 212 of those admissions (72%) returned back to the community. The facility also celebrated its Medicare 5 star rating, which it has maintained since January 2010. The facility has been named on the US News and World Report’s listing of “Best Nursing Homes” for 2011, 2012, and 2013, and also achieved a deficiency free state survey. Riverview was able to keep a close eye on their budget and secured a $17,476 surplus for the year.

PENTA Career Center to Offer STNA classes in Oak Harbor

PENTA Career Center Adult & Continuing Education has partnered with the Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus  in Oak Harbor to offer State Certified Nurse’s Aide (STNA) training starting in April. The class will be held at the Riverview Healthcare Campus two nights per week for eighteen weeks. Funding may be available. 

There will be an informational night on Tuesday, April 2, at the One Stop on State Route 163 in Oak Harbor.

Ohio Chamber Symposium planned for Port Clinton

The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Ohio Chamber Symposium Thursday, April 25 at the Civilian Marksmanship Program at Camp Perry Training Site, Building 3.  Registration is at 11:30am, the workshop is from 12-1pm.  Todd Sarver with Steptoe & Johnson PLLC Attorneys at Law will be presenting Social Media:  The Brave New Workplace.

The legal impact of social media in the workplace will be reviewed including:

  • hiring process
  • monitoring employees
  • employee (mis)conduct and termination  
  • an interactive discussion about protected employee activities on-line
  • review best practices and policy considerations for employer

New Imaging Director Hired at Magruder Hospital

Monica Mokos has recently been hired as the new Imaging Director at Magruder Hospital.

She comes to Magruder with 20 years of Radiology/Imaging experience.  In her most recent position, she was the Operations Manager/Supervisor of Imaging Services at Kaiser Permanente.  In that role she was responsible for the daily activities of Imaging Services at three facilities.
