Events planned for Marblehead Bank’s 105th anniversary

The Marblehead Bank will celebrate its 105th anniversary by inviting the community and its visitors to special complimentary events that will be held in each of their branches during the first week of July.
On Thursday, July 5, the bank is sponsoring an Afternoon Tea at the location of its branch on the campus of Otterbein North Shore, 9400 N. Shore Blvd., Marblehead. The event will be hosted by the bank and Otterbein employees in the main dining facility from 2 to 4 p.m. and will feature refreshments, prizes and bingo.
On Friday, July 6, the bank is grilling up hot dogs at its main office at 709 W. Main St. in Marblehead. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bank President Bill Tuttamore will be manning the grill and bank employees will help serve up chips and refreshments. A special game with prizes will be available to those who attend.

Job Store hours changing

The operating hours of The Job Store, located in the Ottawa County Resource Centre, across from the fairgrounds on Ohio 163, Oak Harbor, will change next month.
Effective Monday, July 2, the hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Tuesdays, the store will remain open until 6 p.m.

Furry Paws and Fancy Stuff now open

“The grand opening of Marblehead’s newest place to pamper your pet has opened with a flourish thanks to The Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce,” said owner Cheri Cunningham. She has been grooming dogs and cats since March 6 at the storefront located in the Cube Smart Strip Mall located between Canoe Club Restaurant and Fort Firelands at 5681 E. Harbor Road. 
“Neighboring businesses have been very kind and supportive,” said Cunningham, “I can’t say enough kind words about Iris at Golden I Jewelry and Design and Jeanette Cox in the Cube Smart Office. The Peninsula Chamber goes out of its way to publicize and spread the word about any effort to enhance shopping and convenience here in the area.”

The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Terra State Community College is offering free, two-hour seminars, Small Business Basics, that will answer questions about starting, buying or expanding a small business.
This seminar will take the confusion out of your efforts and help you avoid costly mistakes and unnecessary steps. Learn the basics of: name registration, licensing, taxes, zoning, business entities, employees, insurance, financing and business planning.

Deerhake, Magruder honored by Marblehead Chamber

Greg Deerhake, a son of the Marblehead Peninsula, and Magruder Hospital were honored Thursday evening at the 75th annual meeting of the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce at Catawba Island Club.
Deerhake was honored with the D.S. Kirkpatrick Award named for one of the original founders of the Chamber and former publisher of the Peninsula News. The award is to honor the dedication and unselfish devotion to the principles of service to the community through the Chamber of Commerce.
