A ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the eighth anniversary of By Laurie, located at 120 E. Second Street in downtown historic Port Clinton, was held on August 24. Representatives of the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Port Clinton congratulated Laurie Cirone, owner of By Laurie, for her commitment to the Port Clinton community. On August 22, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for Hand in Hand Nail Design and Evolved Hair Studio, both located at 1848 E. Perry Street in the Sutton Center.
Port Clinton is the host for the September training of the Main Street Revitalization Series with Heritage Ohio. The topic of the Wednesday, September 19, workshop is Community Branding and Marketing.
Since the mid 1990s, I have personally had meeting after meeting with the operators of the food service venues at The Island House in downtown Port Clinton. I always pointed out that the proper operation of that facility was a “sacred trust” for the community because the Island House was the cornerstone of Port Clinton’s historic downtown.
