Oak Harbor defeats Edison, improves to 3-2

A big play early can often swing momentum in one team’s favor, and that’s just what happened in Oak Harbor’s 42-21 victory over Edison on Friday night in Sandusky Bay Conference action at Rocket Stadium.

On the game’s second play from scrimmage, Edison quarterback Chris Smith raced 59 yards down the sideline before being knocked out of bounds by Rocket safety Cole Weirich at the Oak Harbor 4-yard-line. Then, on first-and-goal, Oak Harbor linebacker Cobi Brough forced a fumble that was recovered by Jourdan Maguire and suddenly the Rockets had dodged a bullet and seized momentum.

In the end, Oak Harbor's physicality was just too much for Port Clinton.

Behind an offensive line that established control early in the game, the Rockets rushed for 421 yards in its 33-7 defeat of the Redskins.

Quarterback Cole Weirich rushed for 167 yards on 14 carries to go with two touchdowns and senior running back Ben Genzman carried it 18 times for 156 yards and three scores.
