Print shop manager buys Minuteman Press

Jim Kieffer, of Bayview, who has served as manager the past several years at the local Minuteman Press franchise in Portage Township, officially purchased the operation effective Aug. 13. He will be moving the full-service print shop into Harbor Lights Landing on Ohio 53 North.
Minuteman Press started operations at 205 S.E. Catawba Road in February of 2001 as a division of Schaffner Publications, owners of The Beacon and North Coast Business Journal. John Schaffner, president and publisher of The Beacon for nearly 30 years, saud that he was extremely pleased he was able to come to an agreement with his longtime manager.
“I know how dedicated Jim is, not just to his craft, but to his customers at Minuteman Press,” said Schaffner.

Kieffer has been in the printing business since April of 1973 when he began a six-year stint at Fisher Printing in Galion. He went to work for Quality Printing in Bucyrus in July of 1979 and remained for nearly 20 years. In 1999, he went to work for Quick Tab II in Tiffin before finding his way to Minuteman Press five years later.
Kieffer has been married to his wife, Beth, for 39 years. The couple has two sons and four grandchildren. In his spare time, Kieffer is a musician and plays in the Port Clinton Community Band as well as in the Terra Jazz Band and the Terra Brass Choir.
