The Marblehead Bank is featuring Ex Libris and Jill’s Bakery with displays in the lobby of their branch office located on Bridge Road during regular business hours. Ex Libris will have a display Aug. 19-30 and Jill’s will have a display on Aug. 23-30. The Marblehead Bank has established this marketing program to provide the opportunity for area businesses to positively promote their business.
Ex Libris is a library located at 110 W. Main Street, Marblehead. Established in 2002, Ex Libris offers books to buy and books to borrow. The library is sponsored by the Marblehead Peninsula Library Committee, a non-profit corporation.
Ex Libris is a unique library as it is staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers and rely on donations of books/reading materials and audio/visual materials, as well as monetary donations to fund their bookshop. Ex Libris sponsors an annual fundraising event “Good Librations” to further fund their cause. This year’s event will be held Sep. 7 at the Johnson’s Island Clubhouse. Invitations will be available at their display at the bank.
The next time you are in Marblehead, stop in and browse their large selection of reading materials. If you have any gently used books/audio/visual materials, drop them off and help to grow this wonderful facility. Ex Libris is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Jill’s Bakery has become a cornerstone in the village of Marblehead. For the past 15 years, Jill Shrock has been coming in to work when most people are heading to bed. At 10 p.m. nightly, Jill comes to the bakery, turns on the ovens and starts preparing and baking her delectable treats, and she does this all by herself. Promptly at 5:30 a.m., she unlocks the doors and by 11:30 a.m., the shelves are bare. On any given morning you will see tourists and townspeople alike gathered at tables, drinking coffee and enjoying their favorite morning treat. Others leave with boxes or bags to take to work and share with co-workers or to take home and enjoy with their families.
Although doughnuts are very popular (and delicious), Jill’s Ladylocks and nutrolls are her specialty. Always in demand, especially around the holidays, the orders are endless. On top of that, add in cookies and coffee cakes, you are sure to find something you like.
On August 23rd and 30th, be sure to stop by the branch office of The Marblehead Bank on Bridge Rd. for a taste of Jill’s Bakery. The next time you are in Marblehead, stop by Jill’s and pick up a treat. Just remember to get there early because the bakery cases empty quickly.
Area business owners may contact Marblehead Bank’s Lori Fletcher or Sherila Carr at the Peninsula branch at 419-732-6263 for further details of their business feature program and to reserve a time slot for their display. There is no charge to the business for this marketing opportunity.
