Otterbein helps Danbury Food Pantry with urgent need

Otterbein has a big goal – to collect 500 food and staple items before Valentine’s Day, which is Friday, Feb. 14. Earl Mencel, a food bank volunteer, alerted Otterbein that, especially at this time of year, there is an urgent need for donated food for people in Danbury Township.

When Otterbein’s Wellness Director, Martha Meyer, heard about this, she created a community out-reach to collect 500 food items to be delivered to the food bank. “I really hope we’ll go over this amount. It is so important for people in need right now,” said Meyer.

“I volunteer once a month and, believe me, the need is there. I think people will help. They usually do,” said Otterbein resident and food pantry volunteer Joyce Edwards. People interested in helping with this critical need can deliver items to Otterbein North Shore, 9400 North Shore Blvd., Lakeside-Marblehead, before Friday, Feb. 14.
