Port Clinton Seniors and the Port Clinton Volunteer Fire Department have teamed up to host PC Seniors’ annual Chili & Soup Cook-off on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 3-5p.m. at the City Park Shelter House. Competitors must be 55+ years of age or an active member of the PCVFD; and may enter a standard-size crock pot (5 qts.) of chili, or soup or both. Entrants must be registered by Sept. 27; and must have their entry at the Park Shelter House by 2:30 p.m. on the day of competition. The event is open to the public; a $3 donation (ages 12+) will benefit the PC Seniors Special Projects Fund. Snacks, beverages, chili and soup tasting, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and lots of friendly competition promise an afternoon of fun. Aprons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place chili and soup winners with the coveted Best of Show Trophy awarded to the over-all winner of the competition.
Cook Off Coordinator, June Kwiatkowski, recommends early registration to compete or sign up to attend, in order to provide sufficient accommodations for competitors and guests. Walk-ins are welcome. Stop by or call the Port Clinton Senior Center at 419-734-1481 on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. or call Juanita at 419-341-1080.
