Elmore Historical Society banquet and activities

“Three Warriors, A Spy and an Indian Chief” is the theme for the Membership Banquet of the Elmore Historical Society.  Saturday, March 9, is the date for the 32nd annual banquet. This year once again the members and volunteers will be guests of the Society. It is a way of saying thank you for all who make all of the Society’s activities a success

The menu is ham and chicken dinners with pie for dessert. It is being served by and at the Elmore Legion Post 279, 279 Veterans Ave., Elmore.  Memberships can be renewed or new memberships are available for $5.  Deadline for reservations is Saturday, March 2.  Call Nancy Pries at 419-862-3300.  

Historical Society activities for 2013 are:

 “A Cold Day in Helmore”, Saturday, March 2. Pork rib tips or chicken dinner, 4-7 p.m., with live entertainment.  Eat in or Carry Out.   

Portage River Festival, Sunday, June 23. A family-oriented event, with live entertainment as well as food, crafters and a flea market. Opens at 11 a.m.

Grub ‘n Suds, Saturday, Sept. 7, for the mature person.  New 2013 motorcycles from various vendors, flea market, food, bike games, a poker run and live bands.

Tombstone Derby, Saturday, Oct. 26.  A family activity with children’s costume contest, children’s electric car races, dressed animal contest, adult casket races and food.  A pie baking contest will be held in the morning.

Holiday Extravangaza, Saturday, Dec. 7.  Cookie and candy contest, Santa and Mrs.Claus arrive with Mrs. Claus reading stories to the children, a singing hay ride and hot chocolate and food all at The Historical Barn.
