Democrats form new club

The newly formed Port Clinton Area Democratic Club will be holding its meetings at 5:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month at club headquarters, 432 Fremont Road, Port Clinton.
The club’s goal is to have guest speaker programs, instructional workshops, recruit and support of candidates representing the Port Clinton area and surrounding townships, encourage and foster youth involvement as well as additional programs as the club grows.

Sign up now for community garage sale

Marblehead is having a community garage sale Saturday, July 14th. Organizers are looking for village and township residents to participate in the sale. Residents will be displaying their treasures in front of participating shops on Main Street.

This garage sale is being advertised locally and regionally — Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo — so a large crowd of enthusiastic shoppers is anticipated.

Register now for ‘Walk to Remember’

The The Compassionate Friends of Ottawa County invites bereaved parents, siblings, relatives and friends to register now for a 1-mile “Walk to Remember” at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22.
As the world’s largest self-help bereavement organization, The Compassionate Friends offers friendship, understanding and hope to families that have experienced the death of a child. There are more than 640 chapters in the United States, including all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. The local event is being held in conjunction with The Compassionate Friends National Walk to Remember in Costa Mesa, Calif., where as many as 1,500 are expected to participate. Dozens of chapters across the country are expected to join in concurrent walks throughout the day.

Commissioners Stahl, Arndt kickoff campaigns

Ottawa County Commissioners Mark Stahl and Steve Arndt will have some important company this Wednesday when they hold their Campaign Kickoff at Catawba Island Club from 7 to 9 p.m. Ohio Republican Chairman Bob Bennett and long-time State Rep. Randy Gardner will also be on hand for the event.
In his invitation letter to potential attendees, Arndt had this to say: “Mark Stahl and I care about the people and community of Ottawa County. We enjoy the satisfaction that comes from balancing our budget, working with people, counties and the State of Ohio on projects that improve our economy and quality of life.” Arndt also points to the combined total of 40 years of experience.

Purchase fresh produce at Lakeside Farmers’ Market

In a continued effort to promote health and wellness, Lakeside is again hosting a bi-weekly Farmers’ Market during the Chautauqua summer season. From 9 a.m. to noon every Tuesday and Friday until Aug. 31, Farmers’ Market vendors will sell fresh produce, honey, herbs and homemade baked goods at Walnut Avenue on the pedestrian walkway between Second and Third Streets in Lakeside.
There will be nine to 10 vendors each day, including DeChant Farms, DTF Enterprises, Great Lakes Gourmet Spice Co., Healthy Bakes By Catherine, My Mother’s Market, Farm Wife Breads and TNT Farms.
The items sold at the Farmers’ Market are grown within a 50-mile radius; this provides Lakeside residents and guests the opportunity to purchase regionally produced goods and contribute to the growth of the local economy.
