Ribbon cutting held at Friendship Park

 

On Thursday, June 12, the Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the dedication of the Friendship Park Wall. Representatives from the City of Port Clinton, the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Port Clinton, residents and visitors attended to congratulate the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council on this beautification project.

Friendship Park to showcase local artists

The new art display in Friendship Park in downtown Port Clinton showcasing Kelly Rigoni's Battle of Lake Erie Reenactment photos and Andy Sacksteder's "Captain and the Kid" statue.

The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council (GPCAAC) has launched a project entitled Perspective, murals by working, local artists. The showcase area for this project will be in Friendship Park on the wall where the old mural once was. Keith Fleming and Carol Morgan, co-chairs of the project, said that estimations they received to just fix the wall, not even counting the mural, ranged from $30k-$115k. 

“Mineral pigment paint was supposed to be used on outside murals and the mural was painted with latex paint,” said Fleming. 

The wall that the mural was painted on also wasn’t built to hold a mural even if it was applied correctly.
