Rally for the Kids

The second annual Rally for the Kids event Saturday promises to be fun for everyone. Kids of all ages will have a chance to take an up close look at the Life Flight helicopter as it lands in the parking lot of Knoll Crest Plaza. Fire trucks from the Port Clinton Fire Department will be on hand so kids can get a look inside and the Sheriff’s Office will be conducting fingerprinting for the children. The Humane Society will be bringing animals for the kids to enjoy. Kids will also have an opportunity to participate in a coloring contest and Truman from Kidsville News will be on hand to add to the excitement.

Rally for the Kids will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in Bassett’s Market Parking Lot at the corner of Ohio 163 and 53.
The second annual 5k Run/Walk, presented by Magruder Hospital’s Lake Erie Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation will begin the day with registration at 9am at East Harbor State Park.  There will be prizes for the top male and female finishers in the adult and child categories.  The cost to participate is $20 for adults, $10 for children under 13 and teams can participate at $50 for 3-5 members.  Come out and enjoy a fun walk/run along the lakeshore at East Harbor while benefitting the kids of Ottawa County.
Other activities taking place during the event include a “Sidewalk Sale” where 20 vendors will sell their wares from home party items to gently used items.  You’re sure to find a bargain you’ll love.  Vendors will be located along the sidewalk at the Knoll Crest Plaza.
The Port Clinton Kiwanis will be on hand selling food and beer and beverages will also be available.
This year, there will be a first-ever Cornhole Tournament with cash prizes and gift certificates for the top two teams. Registration begins at 11 a.m.
Once again, Bassett’s Market is generously sponsoring a Grocery Shopping Spree. Tickets are $5 and the winning ticket will be drawn at the event for a 3-minute shopping spree. Last year’s winner took home more than $350 worth of groceries!
There will be a Basket Raffle with 15 baskets of items generously donated by local businesses. All proceeds from the Rally for the Kids event will benefit Joyful Connections and Ottawa County C.A.S.A., two local non-profit organizations that are helping serve children in crisis in Ottawa County.  Come out and join the fun and support these two valuable organizations.
