United Way of Greater Toledo put a stake in the ground and announced five year goals titled LIVE UNITED 2020. The goals were co-created by the community from hundreds of conversations over the past few years with community members, volunteers, key stakeholders, and the significant input of business, nonprofit, government and labor. LIVE UNITED 2020 provides a strong focus to measure and track progress and results for the entire community in Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa Counties.
LIVE UNITED 2020 goals will drive the strategies and resources of United Way of Greater Toledo in the following areas of education, income and health.
Children are prepared to enter and graduate from school with a plan for career, life, and work
Individuals and families are financially stable
Members of our communities are healthy
“Live United 2020 are a set of community level goals in the areas of education, income, and health across Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa Counties that are attainable, inspirational and have been co-created by the community through hundreds of conversations with all sectors of the community,” said Karen Mathison, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Toledo. “It’s my deep hope that LIVE UNITED 2020 will call all of us to action in smarter, stronger ways to strengthen this fabric that we call community. I am filled with such hope and anticipation as we get started on these five-year metrics that will, when achieved, change our community in such a positive way.”
With the identification of the LIVE UNITED 2020 goals, United Way invites all members of the community to be part of the change that these goals seek to shape. Additionally, United Way of Greater Toledo is seeking any tax exempt organizations which serve Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa Counties who share a value in creating lasting change in community conditions and improving lives through an application process launched today.
All necessary information regarding this application process can be found at unitedwaytoledo.org/application. This application process is for a three-year funding cycle which begins July, 2015.
Tax exempt organizations applying for grant funding are required to attend one of the following sessions listed below to receive information in addition to submitting a full and complete application.
• June 23, 9-10:30 a.m. – United Way in Wood County, 111 South Main St., Bowling Green
• June 24, 9-10:30 a.m. – United Way in Ottawa County, Sutton Center, 1854 E. Perry St., Ste. 300, Port Clinton
• June 25, 1-2:30 p.m. – United Way of Greater Toledo, 424 Jackson St., Toledo
• June 26, 8:30-10 a.m. – United Way of Greater Toledo, 424 Jackson St., Toledo
• July 9, 9:30-11 a.m. – Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg
