The first ARTWalk of summer

LEAP (Lake Erie Adventure Playground) provided opportunities for budding artists.

On a perfect Thursday evening, the first ARTWalk of 2014 took place in historic downtown Port Clinton. Several of the exhibitors who had also participated in the first 2013 ARTWalk noted the marked contrast to last year’s cold, windy and rainy initial Walk. The increase in the number of shoppers reflected the pleasant weather.

Linda Green of Port Clinton, who was offering personalized aromatherapy blends of essential oils at Keith Fleming, said, “I think the ARTWalk is an awesome opportunity for the community to not only see the talent in our area, but also to get out and see each other.”

“I think it is a great thing. During the day, there is often nowhere to park downtown,” said Lori Kirk of Elmore. Kirk’s friend Jean Roepke was equally enthusiastic, adding that they seldom get to Port Clinton but were attracted by the ARTWalk.

The organizers (the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council), the exhibitors and the shoppers were pleased with the weather and the turn-out. The next of the monthly ARTWalks is Thursday evening, June 26, from 5 to 8 p.m.
