May Crowning at ICS

The May Crowning ceremony is a long standing tradition at Immaculate Conception School in Port Clinton. It is a special time of year when they honor mothers, and most especially the mother of us all, Holy Mary. The recent first communion class are the hosts and hostesses of the ceremony as they carry flowers to be put at the foot of the Mary statue. The fifth grade class has the honor of leading the Mass prior to the ceremony.

This year’s fifth graders chosen to crown the Mother of Jesus were Alyssa Diaz, Adrianna Hummel, and Lilian Uhinck. Fifth grade boys Mitchell Coon and Garrett Hirt assisted in the planning of the ceremony. After Mass, the school children led a processional that made its way to the statue of Mary where the crowning takes place.
