One of Port Clinton’s newest, fun traditions is back. Beginning May 22, Art Walk, the free family-friendly downtown art celebration, will be held the fourth Thursday of each month from 5-8 p.m.

In 2013 the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council (GPCAAC), Historic Downtown Port Clinton, art galleries and venues united to form Art Walk as a means of promoting both art and downtown businesses. Once a month, a growing crowd gathered to browse art in the galleries and businesses and on the sidewalks, stroll from store to store, grab a bite to eat in one of the restaurants, and listen to live music.

“Art Walk brought a lot of excitement to downtown last year, and we’re expecting more of the same in 2014,” said Jen Nickel, artist and chair of the GPCAAC Outreach Committee. “The event continues to generate public interest and solidify downtown Port Clinton as a destination for the arts.”

New this year, Lake Erie Adventure Play (LEAP) will offer an opportunity for kids and families to express themselves through creative play at each Art Walk, May through September.

Not only will galleries and businesses be featuring artists, the streets will be lined with artists creating and selling their works. Artists who wish to participate and downtown businesses that would like artists inside or in front of their venues should contact either Jen Nickel at 419-341-0804 or Keith Fleming at  419-734-5235.
