Golfers support local American Red Cross

The 28th Annual American Red Cross–Materion Golf Scramble was recently enjoyed by 144 golfers at the Oak Harbor Golf Club. Funds raised help support disaster preparedness, relief and recovery, and services to military personnel and their families.

The day’s top team prize went to Larry St. Clair, Doug St. Clair, Bob Paulson and Craig Jess. Port Clinton Ford underwrote the Super Ticket portion of the day including two 3-day 2-night vacations awarded to Rich Hillman and Tony Wilson. Photos captured each participating team at the skirt hole and can be viewed on the American Red Cross of Northwest Ohio Facebook page.

In addition to a variety of raffle and door prizes supplied by local merchants, golfers bid in a live auction for golf and lunch for four at the Catawba Island Club, and golf for four at Plumbrook Country Club.

The Red Cross Golf Scramble was made possible by the support of major sponsors including: Title Sponsor-Materion Brush, Elmore; Eagle Sponsors-KWEST Group and Republic Services; Birdie Sponsors-Custom Glass Solutions by Guardian; Lafarge North America; Lake Erie Business Park; Magruder Hospital; Napoleon Machine LLC; Northern Manufacturing; Red, White, and Brew; The Chipmatic Company and WSOS Community Action. Entry to the event included lunch with brats supplied by Tank’s MeatsInc. of Elmore and was served out of an American Red Cross emergency response vehicle.

Volunteer helpers adding to the success of the day were Rudy Daniels, Bob Gleckler, Deena Camerato, Lisa Chura, Larry Coats, Mary Anne Koebel, Jessica Lake, Audre Massie, Lindsey Mortus-Mulligan, Molly Sass and student nurses Kamisha Ross and Mary Kate Fulkert.
