Chris and Erin Lucas of Catawba Island Township are pleased to announce that this Sunday, April 27, over 60 friends and family members from Ottawa County will come together to participate in the Glass City Marathon in Toledo in support of their special needs daughter, Mary Lucas.
The Glass City Marathon is one of the largest local marathon opportunities in the area and regularly draws over 6,000 people who participate in the full marathon/half marathon/5k annually. The large number of Ottawa County residents participating will be sporting “Team Mary” shirts and will be spotted running in a wide variety of race options.
The large group of “Team Mary” supporters have not only committed their time and energy to participate in the marathon activities, but they have also collectively raised over $7,000 in Mary’s name to be donated to the ARC summer program of Ottawa County. ARC, the Advocacy and Resource Center, will use the funds to provide dedicated summer programs for special needs children in Ottawa County.
Through the generosity of McCarthy’s Pub in downtown Port Clinton, “Team Mary” participants and supporters will gather after the Marathon to dance to the music of JK All Day and to enjoy much a much deserved post-race celebration. Anyone interested in donating to “Team Mary” can go to www.fundrazr.com and type in "Team Mary 2014."
