It is tax season again. Doing taxes can be a frustrating and difficult addition to already busy lives. Following are some resources that you can use for free to reduce the burden of tax season:
1. If your total household income is under $58,000 annually you can file your taxes for free using H&R Block software by going to www.myfreetaxes.com/unitedway211.
2. If you want to do your own taxes but would like an IRS certified tax preparer to be available in person to assist you ($58,000 annual income limit), you can go to either the University of Toledo or Owens Community College. Times are available for taxpayers from the community to utilize this free service, which will be facilitated by an IRS certified tax preparer. Call 211 for times and locations.
3. If you would like an IRS certified tax preparer to prepare your tax return at one of 11 locations in Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa Counties, dial 211 to schedule an appointment. In addition, in Ottawa County you may call Ottawa County Transitional Housing directly to schedule an appointment at 419-734-9494.
