The annual Bataan Day ceremony will be held this year on Friday, Nov. 8, at 9 a.m. in the Bataan Memorial School Gymnasium.
The students and staff of Bataan Memorial Elementary School invite members of the community to their Bataan Day Ceremony. This year, students and staff are organizing a food drive in conjunction with the VFW Post 2480 to benefit local veterans in need. Students and guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item with them on Nov. 8.
The Bataan Day Ceremony is held annually to honor the thirty-two men from Port Clinton who participated in the Battle of Bataan and the Bataan Death March of World War II. While traditionally held the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend, Bataan Memorial has decided to host the event closer to Veterans Day this year. The ceremony helps the students remember the history of their school name and realize the sacrifices made by these brave soldiers and others like them who fought and continue to fight for their country and our freedom.
