In August, 47 Ottawa County households received 11 air conditioners and 33 fans, and were assisted with utility bills in the amount of $680 by the WSOS cooling assistance program.
While this assistance is no longer available, these residents should note that the winter heating assistance program will begin Nov. 1. The procedure for application is the same. There is also assistance to enroll in the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) Plus program for customers of Columbia Gas, the American Electric Power Company, Toledo Edison, Ohio Edison, and Suburban Gas.
To apply for assistance, applicants must have with them the following information:
• Proof of income, for all residents 18 years of age or older, for either three or 12 months
• A copy of the most recent utility billZ
• Social Security numbers and birth dates for all residents in the home, and
