On Sept. 10, 2013, the United States Postal Service issued a stamp commemorating the Battle of Lake Erie. Visitors to our area from all over the country lined up early behind the Visitor’s Center to get their stamps and merchandise from the U.S. Postal Service.

Dr. Joshua D. Colin, Vice President, Area Operations for the Eastern Area United States Postal Service said it was great to bring national attention to American history with the dedication of the stamp. The stamp released on Tuesday Sept. 10 was the second in a series commemorating the War of 1812.

“As the stamps begin their journey,” Dr. Colin said, “they’ll remind everyone of the Battle of Lake Erie.”
