George Oliver True Jr. “Bud”, 80, died, Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Mr. True was born in Chicago, IL., a son of the late George Oliver and Katharine Andrews True. Mr. True served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Miami University (Ohio) and attended graduate school at the University of Michigan Law School. Bud was a 32nd degree Mason; Member of the Toledo Consisterory, Zenobia Shrine; member of the Oliver Perry Lodge, Port Clinton; Aiken Sr. Men’s Club; former member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club; Catawba Island Club; Delta Chi fraternity; served on the board of the Ida Rupp Library and was a member of Firelands Presbyterian Church. He spent most of his working career as a Senior Systems Analyst for General Motors. Mr. True moved to Aiken, SC, in 2006 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Wilt True; a daughter, Beth (Greg), Findlay, OH; two sons, George Oliver II (Debra), W. Bloomfield, MI; Timothy (Mary Lou) True, Tualatin, OR; five grandchildren, Matthew Hull, Lauren Hull, George Olive True IV, Marissa True, Connor True; two great-grandchildren, Cole Hull and Felicity Hull; and a sister, Joanne Wood of Pasadenaa, FL.
Bud enjoyed history, computers, writing, reading, boating and especially being around his family and dear friends. However, Bud’s favorite thing in life was being devoted to his loving wife, Pat.
A funeral service was held at The First Presbyterian Church, Aiken, February 21.
A Memorial Service will be held at Firelands Presbyterian, Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m.
