Dan Cadigan, M.D., Ottawa County Coroner, has announced the staffing of the Ottawa County Coroner’s Office.
David Bodie, M.D., will be Deputy Coroner for Ottawa County. Dr. Bodie is a native of Port Clinton and is presently a Family Practice Physician at Port Clinton Medical Associates. As Deputy Coroner, Dr Bodie will be available to perform the Coroner’s duties in the Coroner’s absence.
The office will have two Coroner’s Investigators, Carl Rider and Joe Vidal, who will be available to assist the Coroner in death investigations on an as-needed basis while maintaining their present employment. Both are highly respected, experienced and skilled individuals. The presence of two investigators will ensure continuous on-call coverage if one investigator is unavailable.
Mr. Rider is a Port Clinton native who holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University. He has 27 years of experience in law enforcement, the last 15 of which have been with the Ottawa County Drug Task Force. His experience will be a significant asset to the Coroner’s Office, as drug-related deaths are now the number one cause of accidental death in Ohio.
Mr. Vidal is an Oak Harbor native with 16 years of law enforcement experience with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Clay Township Police Department and Oak Harbor Police Department. He has worked in as a Canine Handler, as a Uniformed Road Patrol Officer and as a Detective. He is currently employed at Davis-Besse as a Firearms and Security Instructor. His road patrol and detective experience will be an asset in traffic-related deaths and investigations, as will his firearms knowledge in suicide and homicide death investigations.
