The Ottawa County Visitors Bureau Board of Trustees is pleased to announce its new officers for 2013. Serving as President is Greg Peiffer, President & GM of Ottawa Broadcasting (WPCR, WPIB). Vice President is Linda Aigler from AAA Northwest Ohio. Secretary is Allen Cabral, who owns several vacation rental properties in the area. Treasurer is Nicole DeFreitas who recently opened her own business, DeFreitas Events & Travel. The Immediate Past President is Kim Kaufman, Director of Black Swamp Bird Observatory.
There are four individuals new to the board this year: Bart Erwin from Our Sunset Place B&B; Peter Huston, who represents Put-in-Bay and The Perry Group; Kevin Sibbring, President of Lakeside Chautauqua; and Jeff Sondles, Public Relations Officer for Liberty Aviation Museum.
The other members of the Visitors Bureau Board of Trustees are: Jamie Beier-Grant, Ottawa County Improvement Corporation; Carrie McGlothlin, Edgewood Manor; Commissioner Jim Sass, Ottawa County Commissioners; Mike Schenk, Catawba Island Club; Veronica Sheets, Schedel Arboretum & Gardens; and Gaylord Sheldon, CC&G Enterprises.
The Board of Trustees is a volunteer advisory body that works to help fulfill the mission of the bureau, which is to encourage economic development in Ottawa County through the promotion of tourism for pleasure, business, and enrichment. The 15-member board is comprised of both appointed and elected individuals who represent each of Ottawa County’s six Chambers of Commerce, the Ottawa County Commissioners, Ottawa County Economic Development, and various categories of the county’s tourism industry such as lodging, attractions and Lake Erie recreation.
