Last Saturday Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary (ISHAS) rescued another 26 dogs.
“These dogs were endangered and so fall under Sanctuary guidelines. If they had not been rescued (last Saturday), they would have been killed,“ said Nancy Benevento-Brown, CEO of ISHAS.
In order to save the lives of these pups and have a place to accommodate them, ISHAS rented out the building next to their location at 3620 East State Road, Port Clinton. The dogs are now all clean and safe and returning to health.
In November ISHAS rescued 34 dogs. All but nine of those dogs have now found homes. On Dec. 27 Big Bopper’s Restaurant in Marblehead will be hosting a Spaghetti dinner benefit for ISHAS and all the rescued dogs.
With the influx of dogs and the ongoing needs for the sanctuary’s resident dogs and cats, there is a great need for such items as cleaning supplies, puppy pads and for monetary contributions.
