December 3 is the grand opening for Portage Resale Center and Seed Faith Missions food pantry, in the Heineman Building, 301 W. Second Street, Port Clinton.
A ribbon cutting for the Resale Shop will be at 10 a.m. and the food pantry will open at 11:30 a.m. There will be cookies and coffee and bargains.
The Heineman family gifted the building for the Resale Shop. Bob and Linda Snyder of Catawba and Marie Berry of Marblehead, along with the help of many talented volunteers, have made the 3000 square feet into a bargain shopper’s delight.
“The response from the community has been overwhelming,” said Marie Berry, manager. “We have so many donations, and so few volunteers, but we are trying our best.”
When you walk into the Resale Center, it has the feel of an upscale department store, but with better prices and service. The transformation from a warehouse has been the work of a dedicated group of volunteers.
“All volunteers bring their own special talents, whether it is sorting, merchandising or stocking, and we all have a good time, “ said Linda Snyder.
