The Salvation Army’s Coats for Families program starts Oct. 1

The Salvation Army in Ottawa County has partnered with the News Herald, Executive Cleaners and Howard Hanna to provide warm winter coats for local families in need.

The Salvation Army’s Coats for Families program will run from Oct. 1- Jan. 2013.  This program is based on donations from the general public of new and gently used coats. The coats will be cleaned by Executive Cleaners at no charge and redistributed, cost free, to local families in need of a winter coat.

Last year The Salvation Army collected and distributed over 1,000 coats to families in Ottawa County.

This is the 17th year this program has been providing coats to local residents.

Collection areas for coats are the News Herald, Executive Cleaners, Howard Hanna and The Salvation Army.

Executive Cleaners is offering a 10% off cleaning coupon to every person who donates a coat.

Anyone needing a warm winter coat can stop by The Salvation Army at The Sutton Center.

If you would like to donate gently used coats, please drop them off at one of the collection sites listed or call The Salvation Army at 419-732-2769 and speak with Director Maureen Saponari.
