Lake Erie Wing Watch family weekend is Sept. 22-23.
For those who like birds and nature and like to be outdoors, then this is the event for you. Most events are free, but some do require registration. There will be multiple events going on at various locations and a special evening on Saturday night at the Cedar Point Center at BGSU Firelands in Huron, OH.
In Erie County there will be activities going on at Back to The Wild, Old Woman Creek, Erie Metro Parks and Kelleys Island. In Ottawa County there will be happenings at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, Magee Marsh Wildlife Area, and at Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island.
A Birders Breakfast starts each day, and then there is a choice of activities. There will be bird walks, canoe trips, identification workshops, a Decoy Show by Maumee Bay Carvers, open house at Back to the Wild, activity stations from “Flying Wild”, bird banding, activities at the South Bass Island Lighthouse, butterfly garden tour, a family owl program and more.
Saturday evening from 6-9 pm at the Cedar Point Center at BGSU Firelands there will be exhibits, kids’ activities, food and a silent auction. Then Foster Brown and Mark Szabo perform live with their fun nature songs. Free t-shirts will be given to the first 100 people registered for this evening event.
