In an historic event on Sept. 9 the Perry Group, in conjunction with the US Navy and US Coast Guard, installed a commemorative marker buoy at the site of the Battle of Lake Erie, off Put-In-Bay.

The US Coast Guard Cutter Mobile Bay lead the installation of the historic commemorative marker buoy, located at GPS Coordinates 41-44-50.00 N and 083-02-00.00 W.
Mobile Bay departed Put-In-Bay at 9:30 AM on Sunday with a cadre of guests for the actual site of the Battle of Lake Erie. Upon arrival, commemorative wreaths were placed in the water, followed by the deployment of the Buoy.
The deployment was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8, but had to be rescheduled due to a gale
warning for Lake Erie. Other events scheduled for Saturday continued as planned, including a christening of the buoy with guest speakers from the British Royal Navy, Canadian Consul General, US Coast Guard and the Perry Group, speeches at Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial, a reception and performance by the Toledo Symphony Orchestra.
The Friends of Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial, also known as The Perry Group, is a volunteer, 501c3 non-profit organization working with the National Park Service and the local, national, and international community to commemorate the Battle of Lake Erie and celebrate the long-lasting peace between Britain, Canada and the United States.
