ICS holds Honors Assembly

Siblings Garret and Maelee Hirt both were honored with the Life Skill Award of "Common Sense" by Principal Mrs. Connie Snyder.  

Last Friday Immaculate Conception School held its quarterly awards assembly,  which recognized the achievements of students in the first 9 weeks of the 2013-2014 school year.  Students were honored for grades, attendance and the life skill attributes they have mastered throughout the first quarter.  Life skills are qualities that make students strong, hardworking and value-centered. ICS students were applauded for the skills of patience, responsibility, effort, trustworthiness, sense of humor and friendship, among other valuable qualities.

Immaculate Conception Honors Veterans

Immaculate Conception School held its annual Veterans Day Celebration last Friday, Nov. 8, in which they both honored and thanked those that have and still work to protect this country. 

The ceremony began with the procession of flags presented by all students that participate in Boy and Girl Scouts and members of the local VFW. Mitchell Coon, a fifth grader at ICS, acted as Master of Ceremonies for the event. Father John Missler began the program with a prayer of thanksgiving for the men and women who have worn the uniforms of our military and the sacrifices they have made. The National Anthem was sung and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

ICS hosts Toledo Symphony Percussion Trio

Immaculate Conception School was honored to host the Toledo Symphony Percussion Trio “Grandparent” concert on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The trio of musicians relayed their love of music to the children and families at ICS.  .   

The members of the Percussion Ensemble group treated the crowd to a variety of percussion instruments from around the world. Their international repertoire includes music ranging from American Ragtime to traditional African and Mexican Folk. The students and friends at Immaculate Conception gained a great knowledge of how different percussion instruments are made and different ways of playing the same instrument.  Several students were even able to participate in the concert by playing a percussion instrument in the final number.
