Lakeside Chautauqua donates to the Danbury Food Pantry

Lakeside Chautauqua’s living arts center, known as the Rhein Center, initiated a project this summer to help the Danbury Food Pantry during a time of urgent need.

The Danbury Food Pantry had its funding cut by 80 percent due to a change in the federal government’s funding formula. The Rev. Jeannine Dress, founder of the food pantry, reported that the new funding is now based on year-round residency instead of unemployment rates. Due to the fact that there are few year-round residents on the Marblehead Peninsula, the new level of funding does not meet the peninsula’s needs.

Lakeside Chautauqua closes 2014 summer entertainment series

Lakeside Chautauqua’s Hoover Auditorium, one of the cultural hot spots on Lake Erie, hosts a variety of musicians, comedians, illusionists, dancers and bands nightly. Daily fun and family entertainment await guests of all ages. Visit lakesideohio.com for a complete list of the 2014 entertainers.

Purchasing a Daily or Season Chautauqua Pass grants access to all evening shows in Hoover Auditorium at no extra charge. Guests must present Chautauqua Passes upon entering Hoover Auditorium.

A Daily Chautauqua Pass is $19.75 for adults and $13.75 for youth (ages 12-18) per day until Saturday, Aug. 23.

Vacation Bible School, God’s Web of Life

All kids of the area, preschool through sixth grade, are invited to God’s Web of Life Vacation Bible School on July 28 through August 1 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 541 Church Road, Lakeside Marblehead.  

This one-of-a-kind, locally created, curriculum will include games, crafts, stories, service projects, science experiments, camp songs, snacks, and fun. This year will focus on how all of God’s creatures, including us, have an important role to play in God’s Creation. There will be special live animal guests, like Chip the turtle, Albert the mouse, and Arbor the cat.
