Lakers girls win two straight to get back to .500

Despite trailing at the half, Danbury dominated the second half and took control in their 49-30 victory over Gibsonburg in Toledo Area Athletic Conference action last week.

With the Golden Bears leading 24-22 at halftime, the Lakers (10-10, 7-5 TAAC) won the third quarter, 13-5, to take the lead for good at 35-29 before blowing the game open with a 14-1 edge in the final period.

Katie Almendinger had 16 points to lead all scorers and Alyssa Almendinger chipped in with 13 while Megan Stephens scored nine points. The Bears got seven points from Brittney Holcomb and five apiece from Danielle Fork and Marisa Alvarado.

Danbury boys defeat Emmanuel Christian

Behind Dominic Manuella, the Lakers held of Emmanuel Christian, 31-25, to improve to 3-14 overall and 2-9 in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference.

Manuella, who led all scorers with nine points, connected on two late free throws to help Danbury, which led 17-15 after the third quarter, pull away.

PC boys defeat Mohawk, 73-33

Port Clinton controlled this one throughout as they led by 18 points on their way to a 73-33 victory over Mohawk in non-conference action.

The Redskins led 17-4 after one quarter and 30-12 at halftime before outscoring the Warriors, 43-21, in the second half. 

Carter Rumball led all scorers with 19 points, Nathan Stubblefield scored 12 and Tytan Rumball chipped in with 10.
