Oak Harbor adds public dock to waterfront

The Village of Oak Harbor just became more accessible with the addition of a 60 foot public dock located along the downtown waterfront.

The Oak Harbor Downtown Revitalization Implementation Committee (OHDRIC) installed the dock as part of the village's waterfront development plan. The committee is charged with raising funds for the implementation of dockside amenities including walkways, lighting, landscaping, amphitheater and a dock expansion.

Ottawa County Fair celebrating 50th year

This year the Ottawa County Fair is celebrating its 50th year. To celebrate, the Fair Board has lowered admission to $5. There will also be a 50th anniversary fireworks display Friday night at the Demolition Derby. On Monday night, over 100 past and present county and fair royalty gathered together to celebrate the 50 years over a dinner before the crowning of this year’s fair king and queen.

B-C-S Schools welcome new administrators

Cheryl Schell, Principal at Oak Harbor High School

Students in the Benton-Carroll-Salem School District will be welcomed by two new dynamic and energetic building administrators on the first day of school, August 26.  Mrs. Cheryl Schell has taken the helm as the Principal of Oak Harbor High School and is proud to be a Rocket.

“Mrs. Schell is very excited about her new leadership role and brings will bring a wealth of student-centered leadership experience to our high school,” said Superintendent Guy Parmigian.   “Cheryl is eager to meet staff, students, and community members, and is currently working and meeting with folks this month to make a smooth transition,” Parmigian added.
