Port Clinton High School Announces Students of the Month |

Port Clinton High School recently announced the Students of the Month for January and February 2008. Mari Monaco and Tim McLean are January 2008 Students of the Month. For February 2008, Paul Schellin and Abby Skrbina have received the honor.
Mari Monaco has been well-known in Port Clinton High School athletics for four years. She was captain of the Varsity Tennis Team and was part of three team SBC Championships. She also won SBC titles in doubles competition including trips to the State Tennis Tournament her junior and senior year. Mari was captain of the Lady Redskin Basketball Team earning Honorable Mention on the Northwest Ohio District II Team. She has served as the Class of 2008 Treasurer for four years, is Vice President of Key Club, Varsity Club Secretary and a member of National Honor Society and French Club. Next year she will continue playing tennis at Ohio Dominican and major in Accounting. Mari is the daughter of Gino and Teresa Monaco.
Tim McLean is the son of Sandy and Elizabeth McLean. He has been involved in a variety of activities during the past four years at Port Clinton High School. Tim was selected as captain of both the Boys Tennis and Cross Country teams. He has also been a leader on the PCHS Firelands Challenge Team. In addition, Tim has been a part of several PCHS Drama Club productions and a member of the swim team. This year, Tim is taking a full schedule of post-secondary educational option courses. In his spare time he enjoys playing ping pong and anticipates becoming involved in Table Tennis at the college level. Next year Tim will attend The Ohio State University to major in Computer Science and Japanese.
Abby Skrbina has excelled in both the classroom and on the pitchers mound at Port Clinton High School. She is Historian of the PCHS Chapter of the National Honor Society, a member of Spanish Club, and a student mentor as part of the Teen PEP (Peers Educating Peers) Program. She is Captain of the PCHS Softball Team this year and was named as the team MVP last year. During her junior year she received the Coach's Award and 1st Team All-SBC Honors. This year she was also Captain of the PCHS Volleyball Team being named to the 2nd Team All-SBC and Honorable Mention District Six. Next year Abby will attend The Ohio State University and major in Engineering. She is the daughter of Paul and Stephany Skrbina
Paul Schellin recently received the prestigious Congress-Bundestag Award from the AFS Intercultural Program and will be an exchange student in Germany next year. Paul is currently enrolled in post secondary education program through Terra Community College Tech Center's CCNT program and taking classes at Port Clinton High School. He was a member of the Science Olympiad Team, Leadership Council, National Honor Society, Firelands Challenge, and was part of seven of the last eight Drama Club productions running lights and sound. Paul was Co-Captain of the Cross Country Team and competed in the Regional Meet. He is captain of the Boys Swim Team, a District Qualifier in the breast stroke and received 2nd Team All-SBC Honors. He is also a member of the PCHS Tennis Team. After completion of the AFS program, Paul plans to major in Robot, Mechanical or Computer Engineering. Paul is the son of Brad and Cathy Schellin.
