buckeye.jpgPort Clinton High School recently announced that four juniors have been selected to attend Buckeye Boys State held on June 14-22 at Bowling Green State University.   PCHS Juniors David Alvarez, Seth Blankenbeker, William Derivan, Charles Hurt will be attending the nine-day hands-on experience.   Students will participate in the operation of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Ohio government.
According to their website, Buckeye Boys State was "Founded in 1936. Buckeye Boys State is the largest Boys State program in the nation with an attendance of 1,400 young men annually. Boys State programs throughout the nation are sponsored by the American Legion, the nation's largest veterans' organization."
At Boys State, young men learn about city, county and state government through a non-partisan objective education approach. The young men also form friendships which will last a lifetime.
