Who is the real Honey Pie? Left: John Aiello (Paddy McMutton) and Debbie Jadwisiak (Honey Pie Burgermeister).
What timing! With the 2008 US Presidential Campaign in full swing, pitting McCain against Hillary and Barack, Port Clinton area theatre-goers will have a chance to participate in their own Election Campaign by U.S. Senator "Honest" Gabby Sandalson. On May 8th Gabby will be campaigning in Sluckup, PA where he is overnighting at the historic Sluckup Inn. With him is his campaign manager, Tom Gordon, and of course the Inn's proprietor, Chauncy Quince is their Host. Oh, we mustn't forget the town's local single wayward girl with baby, 17-year-old Nellie. This Pennsylvania town will host six other characters before the Senator moves on. Each of these crazies contributes much to the comedy of this farce by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore.
"The Senator Wore Pantyhose" features some of the best comedic talent around this area. Playing the Senator will be local historian, Roger Long. His campaign manager, Tom Gordon, will be played by local insurance man and PCT veteran actor, Dan Jadwisiak. The Inn's proprietor, Chauncy Quince, will be played by local dock master, singer and actor, Matt Parker. Matt's 14-year-old daughter, Morgan Parker, will be Nellie, the Single Wayward Girl. A freshmen at PCHS, Morgan is active in the school's Drama Club.

Roger Long (Gabby Sandalson) and Jeff Bugbee (Rev. Johnny Burgermeister)

The six visitors to this town include a TV Evangelist and his wife (ala, Jim and Tammy Faye Baaker), Rev. Johnny Burgermeister and Honey Pie Burgermeister, played by local comedy favorite, Jeff Bugbee and veteran PCT actor, Deb Jadwisiak. The Senator's wife, Susan, stuck in the Lincoln Tunnel while the white center line is being repainted, will be portrayed by, the comedic Denise Gibson. Being a political farce where the press is always hot on the candidate's trail, this play has CBS News' own Don Bother, played by veteran actor, Bob McConnell.
Finally, no farce is complete without a couple of heavies being involved. Paddy McMutton, a recently escaped convict who gets to portray a double for Honey Pie Burgermeister throughout most of the story. Paddy will be played by the versatile, John Aiello. His cohort in crime is Tony Pinella, a gangster, played by PC's favorite beer salesman and veteran actor, Steven Heineman. Together, they stole a million bucks off a Brink's truck, then forgot where they stashed the money.
This crime spree is but one of many tales told through this comedy. The Senator's sleazy campaign manager trumps up an implausible sex scandal to garner votes, while his boss' integrity's downward spiral cripples his bid for the White House. Then the Reverend invokes his Christian message as a price for his TV endorsement, while at the same time enjoying porno flicks in his room with his wife.
This comedy is being directed by veteran PCT farce director, Richard Renn. Assisting him is local PCT veteran Margot McCann. Others include Dale Jensen as Technical Director, Lenora Frederick, Set Decorator, Monette Garn, Costumer, Keith Fisher, Sound Plot Design, Jaclyn Kromer, Hair & Make Up Special Effects, Brenda and Jim MacDonald, Lighting Design and Execution, and Stage Managers Danny Warren, Bethany Aiello, and Jeremy Bellamy.
This farce opens Thursday, May 8th and runs for two weekend. It should be noted that there will be no Sunday Matinee on Mother's Day, May 11th. The last performance will be the Sunday Matinee at 2 p.m. on May 18th.
