Daisy Day Inc. is looking for car enthusiasts to participate in the first annual Daisy Day Car Show to be held as a part of the Village of Marblehead’s Lakeside Daisy Day on Saturday, May 10. Entry forms are available by contacting Councilman John McDonald at 419-798-5342 or by visiting the Daisy Day Inc. website at www.lakesidedaisy.com. Forms are available in the media/forms section for download. Cost for entry is $15 for pre-registration by May 2 or $17 the day of the show. The Car Show registration table will open at 9 a.m. with registration running until 10 a.m. The festival in James Park opens at 10 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 10:30 a.m. Cars are to enter off Francis Street and will be directed into the park. The owner of each pre-registered car will receive a magnetic dash plaque. All cars will be judged by a panel of three. Prizes will be awarded to the top three cars chosen by the judges. Cash prizes will be awarded as follows: 1st place - $50, 2nd place - $25 and 3rd place $15. Judging begins at 11 a.m. Entry forms are to be mailed to John McDonald, 11245 E. Bayshore Rd., Marblehead, Ohio 43440. Marblehead’s Lakeside Daisy Day is a celebration of the blooming of the Lakeside Daisy. The only natural U.S. population of Lakeside daisy is grown in the Marblehead’s Lakeside Daisy Preserve, a site maintained by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources preserve. This preserve was established to protect the only United States population of the Lakeside daisy, a federally threatened plant species occurring only at two other sites, both in Ontario Canada. In addition, a state endangered species; this is one of Ohio's most spectacular wildflowers. On May 10, representatives from ODNR will be on hand at the site.
