greer.jpgBonnie Greer, Margaretta High School’s French teacher, was presented with the Ohio Foreign Language Assocation’s Beginning Teacher award earlier this month.  The Awards Luncheon was on Saturday, April 5th in Cincinnati, Ohio during the organization’s annual conference.

The Beginning Teacher award is presented to a foreign language educator who has five years or less of teaching experience.  The recipient must be teaching at least half-time in the field and have innovative contributions to foreign language teaching.

Bonnie Greer, a Port Clinton High School graduate, is in her fifth year of teaching, and this is her third year at Margaretta High School.  She is the only French teacher in the district, in addition to the two Spanish teachers.  Mrs. Greer uses a variety of teaching methods in her classroom, including games, songs, interviews and a variety of different projects.  In addition, she was a 2007 All-Star presenter at the OFLA conference (with Elizabeth Hanlon of Wellington Schools) and they re-presented their session at the 2008 conference.
