Law Day observance at their regular weekly meeting. Keynote speaker for
the day was Benjamin Davis, a Law School Professor at the University of

Larry Noblitt Liberty Bell Award Presented |

Carolyn Renwand (left), a victim's rights advocate for Ottawa County, was the recipient of the first ever Larry Noblitt Liberty Bell Award presented at the Port Clinton Kiwanis Club Meeting on Wednesday, May 7. The award was presented by Lorraine Croy of the Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney's office. Renwand was one of 4 nominees for the award. The presentation was made at the local Kiwanis Club's annual Law Day observance. The main speaker was University of Toledo Law Professor, Benjamin Davis. (Photo by John Schaffner)

Seniors of Ottawa County 'Sprung' Into Happiness |

Over 123 seniors of Ottawa County ‘sprung’ into Happiness on Sunday, April
13th with the first of what is hoped to be an annual event. Hosted by the Ottawa
County Senior Activity Committee and sponsored by Walker Family Funeral Homes
and Otterbein North Shore Retirement Living Community, seniors from Ottawa
County and surrounding areas danced to the big band sounds of the “Night
Session” big band at the Community Markets VFW Memorial Hall in Oak Harbor.
Hardly a foot could stop from tapping as Night Session offered an array of epic
big band tunes including ‘Tangerine’ and ‘As Time Goes By.

Wildlife crop damage is widespread and relatively costly. As a result,
it can be a serious concern to producers. Economic losses to due to
wildlife related damage to agricultural producers (farmers and
ranchers) exceeds 4.5 billion dollars annually in the United States.
Damage can come from a wide variety of critters from Blackbirds, and
Canada Geese, to Ground Hogs, Raccoons, and White-tailed deer.
