The two-part, $1.57 billion bipartisan economic stimulus package first unveiled by the
Governor and legislative leaders in April has been officially introduced in the Ohio House and Senate,
with committee hearings slated to begin in both chambers this week. Senate President Bill Harris (R-
Ashland) and Speaker of the House Jon Husted (R-Kettering) are committed to passing the bills before
the end of May.

Governor Strickland Proposes Major Jobs Plan in 2008 PDF Print E-mail

In his State of the State address, Governor Ted Strickland proposed a $1.7 billion jobs package, expanding access to college for high school seniors and allowing the governor to appoint a newly-created Director of the Ohio Department of Education.
Strickland outlined a $1.7 billion jobs stimulus package, Building Ohio Jobs, which will invest in job-creating industries and Ohio workers.
Through issuing bonds, the $1.7 billion Building Ohio Jobs package will create more than 80,000 good-paying jobs in Ohio and lay the foundation for future economic prosperity by investing in the state's energy economy, distribution infrastructure, biomedicine, bioproducts, public works, downtown neighborhoods and the Clean Ohio fund.

Democrats To Gather For "House Party" PDF Print E-mail

All Democrats with their families and friends are invited to a House Party and luncheon at Noon on Saturday, February 16. The gathering will be part of a statewide effort to organize local volunteers for the coming Presidential Election.
The party will be at Bay Township Hall, 4471 W. Fremont Road, about four miles southwest of Port Clinton. Table service, coffee and soft drinks will be provided. Guests are asked to bring a potluck dish to share. The meal will be served at Noon.
