ImageKarl E. Steindam, 85, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. He was born on September 24, 1922, in Genoa, Ohio, the son of the late Otto and Ester (Coleman) Steindam. On June 25, 1942 he married Angela Darr and she preceded him in death on August 1, 1989. Karl was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during WWII.

On June 19, 2007, the community of Shallotte, N.C. was shocked by an unexpected tragedy.
Thirteen-year-old Andrew Julian Priddy, the son of Randy and Amy Priddy, a former Beacon employee, died suddenly as a result of an ATV accident while visiting his grandparents in Ohio. He had just finished the seventh grade at Shallotte Middle School (SMS).

Nellie E. Peters, 98, of Avon, OH and formerly of Oak Harbor, OH passed away, Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Avon Oaks Nursing Facility, Avon, OH.  She was born in Tontogany, OH on February 13, 1910, the daughter of John and Yettie (Vollmar) Burditt.  She earned a Masters Degree from Bowling Green State University.  On May 24, 1931 in Haskins, OH, she married Luther Peters.  He preceded her in death on February 20, 1995.  Nellie was a teacher and principal in Carroll Township.

Gary Donald Krueger, 59, of Marblehead, died Sunday May 4, 2008 at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton.  He was born March 16, 1949 in Cleveland, the son of Dr. Donald and Olga (Ashleman) Krueger.
Gary graduated from Bay Village High School and The Ohio State University and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

ImageRobert “Bob” Armbruster, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, at Firelands Hospital while under hospice care, with his three children at his side. Son of Bernard and Esther (Brandt), he grew up on Catawba Island and in Port Clinton, marrying his high school sweetheart. He was living at Otterbein North Shore in Lakeside Marblehead.
