Recycle and reuse

Thinking about throwing out grandma’s rocking chair?  Wait!  We just might be able to find a home for that rocking chair.  The Lakeside Heritage Society holds a Recycle Sale twice a year, one during the Memorial Day weekend in May (May 22 through May 25) and a second during the Labor Day weekend (September 4 through September 7).  Both are held on the Lakeside Chautauqua grounds in South Auditorium on Central Avenue, between 5th and 6th Streets.

Farm tire recycling collection

The agricultural community will once again have an opportunity to recycle their unwanted farm tires through a collection sponsored by the Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste District.  The event will be held at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds in Fremont in the north parking lot.  This collection is open to farm owners, operators and residents in the three county area (including Bellevue and Fostoria residents).  ABSOLUTELY NO DEALERS or AGRI-BUSINESSES WILL BE PERMITTED.

Television and electronics recycling collection May 31

On Saturday, May 31, the Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste District is sponsoring a television and electronics recycling collection. The event is open to Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca County residents, including all residents of Bellevue and Fostoria. This collection is for residents only. Materials from businesses will not be accepted. The event will take place from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the following locations:

Ottawa County–Ottawa County Fairgrounds, W. State Route 163, Oak Harbor 
Sandusky County–Sandusky County Fairgrounds, north parking lot, 712 North Street, Fremont
Seneca County–Seneca County Fairgrounds, 100 Hopewell Avenue, Tiffin.

Residents will be charged to recycle CRT (lead/glass tube) televisions. The fee associated with the service reflects a portion of the District’s cost and is based on contract pricing with the electronics recycler. To determine the size of your television, measure your screen diagonally from corner to corner. Fees for televisions are: TV’s 24” and smaller, $2; TV’s 25” and larger, $3; all console units and projection screen TV’s (limit 2 per resident), $5.
