OSS billboard contest winners

Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca County fifth grade students had the opportunity to participate in the OSS Solid Waste District’s Billboard Contest. The contest is run annually and the billboards will be posted throughout the month of April in Celebration of Earth Day on April 22. Students were encouraged to create a design with a recycling or litter prevention theme.  District staff selected three winners from each county, displaying artwork on billboards within their respective counties. This year, a total of 759 entries from a total of 27 schools District wide were submitted.

OSS awards recycling grants

Ten organizations received funding to start recycling programs or to buy products made from recycled materials in the second round of competitive funding offered by the Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste Management District.

Recycle and reuse

Thinking about throwing out grandma’s rocking chair?  Wait!  We just might be able to find a home for that rocking chair.  The Lakeside Heritage Society holds a Recycle Sale twice a year, one during the Memorial Day weekend in May (May 22 through May 25) and a second during the Labor Day weekend (September 4 through September 7).  Both are held on the Lakeside Chautauqua grounds in South Auditorium on Central Avenue, between 5th and 6th Streets.
