Danbury held off a late rally to defeat St. Joseph Central Catholic, 61-55, and pick up its first win of the season at the Seneca East Shootout.
Behind Hunter Stinchcomb’s 20 points, the Lakers built a 56-47 lead with just under two minutes remaining before the Crimson Streaks mounted a rally.
SJCC went on an 8-0 run, cutting the deficit to one before Lucas Michael missed a shot that would’ve given the Streaks the lead. Instead, Danbury (1-5) closed the game out on a 5-0 run, a spurt that was started by Caleb Gerber’s two free throws. After Michael missed on a three-pointer, the Lakers rebounded the ball and closed it out by scoring three more points at the charity stripe.
